This session offers an introduction to sea kayaking and to Bonne Bay. Explore the coastline of this double-armed fjord in a stable sea kayak accompanied by Paddle Canada certified guides.
Take in the soul-soothing sunsets over Wild Cove as you enjoy the crystal clear water of Eastern Arm Fjord, explore the coastline of burnt, and enjoy the ever-looming red Tablelands.
Bonne Bay's first inhabitants came here over 4000 years ago, probably in an ocean going canoe. You can paddle in the wake of these first peoples by taking on imaginary journey back in time as you paddle Bonne Bay in a 25 foot ocean going canoe. This canoe holds 10 paddlers, two of whom will be big canoe tour guides who will handle the steering and give directions to the crew of up to 8 paddlers.
Explore the coastline of the double-armed fiord of Bonne Bay as your guides fill you in on its ancient archeological and paddling history.
Paddle the “Pond” from its beautiful sandy beach with Gros Morne Mountain framed in the background. Visit a beaver house on your way to the western end of the pond. Enjoy a picnic at the far end of the pond before heading back on the 2km paddle. This tour is open to canoers, kayakers and paddle boarders. Let us know if you need to rent either type of water craft and we’ll fit you out.
When stringing days of paddling together during a paddling trip, you want to be comfortable, safe and well fed! You’ll learn how to set up a bomb-proof camp, safe from inclement weather, wind, and critters. You'll also learn how to: tie proper knots to correctly secure a tarp ; cook over an open fire; and keep yourself dry around camp and in your tent. A good, restful night's sleep makes the next day's paddling all the more enjoyable!
